Takin' a break...

Still working on this error code...I swear it's making me go crazy.
I need a break....
A friend asked me what I look like anchoring the news... this is it.mean and serious...

Yep...

Summer is here...and all the freedom it comes with.
And hopefully I'll have more time to dedicate myself to this unsatisfied monster called my blog. Not that people are anxious to read my blog but more or less my anxiousness to get my thoughts out here on this wonderful world of web. I'll be anchoring at my school's TV station. Now you may recall my previous thoughts on how I didn't want to become a reporter or anchor or anything of the sort. Well, yeah I don't. But well...I figured well part of my tuition is paying for this opportunity and then they also asked me...so...oh gosh twist my arm..why not? I mean I'll just sit there and read the news to people at home too lazy/busy to go read it on the internet. How rough can that be. I just hope they don't ask me to do anything drastic....like shower...and look nice....kidding. :)
I naturally smell and look nice. Anyway I'm gonna wait until after the first week and then I'll send you a link so you can see me live...reading you the news....how thrilling.
More bugs and critters (does anyone even use that word anymore?) have been sneaking their way into my house. Last week alone I killed 2 crickets, 3 cockroaches, and 2 spiders. That's it, I'm fumigating.
And I also have this old computer from the dark ages that I need to do something with....it's slow and hazardous to my health.
Other than that, things are normal here at the home front. Lets just hope they stay that way.

News in TV

I think I'm going to add another topic to discuss on my blog: News. After all I figure I'm going to school to learn and do it, so I have some small expertise in the field. At least enough to yak about it. In my investigative class a guy came in to talk, Tim Lennox...interesting lecture. He made a few points about commercial television that I agree with wholeheartedly. For instance, in commercial TV news station, watch thier reports, the sound bites last about 8 seconds. I always thought "Now how can they really be reporting the news effectively if they are giving the expert or the speaker only 8 seconds to talk?" Tim made an excellent point. He said if we, as reporters, could go back in time to the days of Lincoln and we were reporting on the Gettysburg address, what 8 seconds of that speech would we put in a news report? Fabulous. Because you could not sum up that great speech in 8 seconds...there is no way. He brought up some other great points like how print journalists (newspapers) have a section that is dedicated to the errors/corrections they made in the last newspaper. But do we have that for TV news? Nope. We just "assume" we are perfect. News. Psh. Glad it's not my life's calling.
